Off Broadway comedy  

 

The SpeakEasy Stage Company is performing “Small Mouth Sounds” now to Feb. 2 at the Roberts Studio Theatre, Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont St.

 

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays, 4 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Local focus

 

The new Local/Focus exhibit for January in the South End Branch Library’s Tremont Street window features books of mystery and suspense and thrillers.

 

Chosen by FOSEL board member Nick Altschuler, a suspense writer himself, the stories will all either take place in or around Boston, or be written by people from the area.

Farmers’ market

 

The Trustee’s of Reservation has a Mobile Farmers Market that will be stationed in the Plaza Betances area every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.

 

With all food coming direct from the farm, prices will be as affordable as possible and the market will accept cash, credit, SNAP/EBT, and WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons.

 

The Trustees are also participating in the new Massachusetts Healthy Incentives Program, which just launched this spring and reimburses SNAP customers for local fruit and vegetable purchases.

Frog Pond skating

 

The Frog Pond on Boston Common is open for skating from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays (except Mondays when the rink closes at 3:45 p.m.) and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

 

Skate rentals are $6 for children, ages 13 and under, $13 for 14 and older.
