Pop-up art talk

A pop-up talk will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays in the fourth floor galleries at the Institute of Contemporary Art, 100 Northern Ave. The talk will introduce visitors to a different perspective of contemporary art from individuals who study the exhibitions every day. The visitor assistants (VAs), wearing “Ask Me” buttons, will give 15-minute talks in front of works of art. Tickets are free with museum admission. Berklee concert series

The Berklee College of Music’s “Summer in the City” free concert series is now underway. Music ranges from jazz to classical, Latin to funk and folk to world. They will perform at the South Boston Waterfront on Atlantic Wharf, at noon on Thursdays through Aug. 31 and at the Institute of Contemporary Art at 6 p.m. on Thursdays from July 5 through Aug. 30 (no performances Aug. 9 or 16). Free Thursdays at ICA

Every Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., general admission to the Institute of Contemporary Art at 100 Northern Ave. is free. The Institute of Contemporary Art strives to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists and the creative process. Model room tours

The BPDA’s model room houses a 1:40 inch scale, physical, basswood model of Boston’s downtown and portions of Beacon Hill, the North End, Charlestown, Back Bay and the South Boston Waterfront. Free tours are conducted in the BPDA Model Room at Boston City Hall, One City Hall Square, on the 9th Floor every Wednesday at 10 and 11 a.m. in two 30-minute sessions.
