Old North concert


The annual Christmas concert at Old North Church will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 at the church, 193 Salem St.


The community is invited to join the choir and orchestra for a special Christmas concert featuring “A Christmas Cantata,” by American choral composer William Billings; “Uns ist ein Kind geboren (For Us A Child is Born) by German composer Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow; and Francesco Durante’s “Magnificat.”

Christmas parade


The North End Athletic Association’s 47th annual Christmas parade will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, starting at Puopolo Park, Commercial and Fleet streets. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be held on Dec. 16.


Santa will arrive by helicopter at the park at 1 p.m. with Rudolph, Santa’s elves and Disney characters handing out candy and balloons.


After touchdown, the Aleppo Shriners’ clowns, Boston Firemen’s Band, high school marching bands, baton twirlers, the Tony Barrie Italian Band and the Massachusetts National Guard Marching Unit will parade through the streets of the North End.

Christmas party


The Saint Agrippina Society will host its 24th annual Christmas program from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 459 Hanover St.


This free program, for North End children only, will feature photos with Santa, face painting, balloons, characters and a gift from Santa. All those who wish to attend must register by calling 617-363-2678.


Boston Ballet story time


The North End Branch Library, 25 Parmenter St., will offer story time with the Boston Ballet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.


Children and families are welcome to hear stories about a famous ballet or dancer. The story time is also supplemented with a movement experience that highlights major themes of the story. Boston Ballet faculty dance educators will lead the program, which is for children age 2 and up. Younger children will need parental supervision.

Game night


Game night will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the North End Branch Library, 25 Parmenter St.


All ages are welcome to play Scrabble, chess, Pictionary, Bananagrams, Risk, cards and more, boost their brains and meet new friends with the variety of board games.

The North End Music and Performing Arts Center and Boston Landmark Orchestra will celebrate the holiday season with a performance of Handel’s “Messiah (Part 1)” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at St. Leonard’s Church, 320 Hanover St.


The production will feature the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, One City Choir and the NEMPAC Youth Orchestra. Soloists are soprano Teresa Wakim, contralto Emily Marvosh, tenor Ethan DePuy and bass Junhan Choi.

Christmas luncheon


The annual North End Christmas luncheon will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 at Filippo’s Ristorante, 283 Causeway St.

Christmas movie


The Nazzaro Community Center, 30 N Bennet St., will screen Dr. Seuss’s “The Grinch” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.


The cost is $10 per child and includes hotdogs, popcorn and drinks. Non-members are welcome; children age 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All proceeds will go directly to CANshare.

Classic holiday film


The North End Branch Library, 25 Parmenter St., will screen the classic Christmas film musical “White Christmas” from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.


Starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney, the musical follows two successful song-and-dance men as they become romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general.

Candy Land tournament


The Pitching in for Kids Foundation will sponsor the 14th annual benefit Candy Land tournament for children from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the Quincy Market Building, upper rotunda of Faneuil Hall Marketplace.


A children’s snack buffet, choir singing, face painting, arts and crafts and Candy Land games will be available. Every child will receive a toy or game from Hasbro. Admission is $10 per person and children under 3 are admitted for free. Tickets are purchased at the door.

North End Christmas


The St. Leonard’s Choral Society will present its annual Christmas concert from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Sacred Heart Church, 10 North Sq.


Joining the choral society will be the North End Chamber Orchestra. Musical selections will range from Handel to “Silent Night” and Gusu Bambino.”


A reception with coffee and dolci will follow the concert. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
